It’s my Otter Birthday!

November 14th, 2010

It’s my Otter birthday (finally!)

It doesn’t seem quite real … but it is .. it’s my birthday at last. This is the second birthday I’ve had now and I think this one is even better than the first. I just can’t believe it’s finally arrived, the suspense had got to critical levels – me and Teddy had to spend a majority of yesterday going under the sofa pillow to remain calm.

I’ve got so many presents, but most importantly I got to open the BIG Present. Did anyone guess it? I got my very own car!! (I think otters often get cars on their second birthday). It’s just about the best present ever and Otter Keeper got me the one which I saw in the showroom (the early learning centre) last month.

My first Otter car

I’ve wanted a proper car for ages. Me and Teddy often need to get to places around the house and we really need the increased independence. The car does need a few modifications, it has no sound system, but Teddy seems to think we could do something with the cassette player and the sellotape. we also need a satellite navigation system like Otter Keeper has in the big car, but he says you don’t really need one of these when you only drive round a house.

Otter Keeper also says I can’t drive my car on the real road (which means I can’t drive him to the shops – his loss). I’m not taking too much notice of this, he’s probably just a bit excitable on this amazing day. And what an amazing day it is. Otter Keeper said he has a special Birthday party planned for me later. I’m worried we might not be able to fit everything in. Surely it would be sensible to span otter birthdays over 2 days?

Actually I really should get going, there are so many other birthday activities that need to be done, and I need to go and pick up the car. we skidded off the road in the hallway (a notoriously busy junction where the stairs intersect with the bathroom). We had to call in Otter Keeper assistance, I think he will have sorted it out now and the car should be ready for pick up!

Thank you so very much for reading my stories for another year, and for all the comments and support. It makes me and Otter Keeper VERY happy, it makes Teddy happy too .. but as we all know it’s hard to tell with him. You wouldn’t even guess it’s my birthday if you were to look at him right now. At least he’s made an effort by wearing his special birthday hat. He is a very good friend really.. But I think I will NEED that satellite navigation. I’ve got a very bad feeling that Teddy is going to be terrible at map reading.

Top 5 household object No.1 – The… thing inside the box

November 12th, 2010

No.1 The thing inside the box (11.3 out of 10)

Deciding on your absolute favourite household object for the whole week is really hard. I was beginning to lean towards the idea that Otter Keeper was my favourite household object until yesterday, when an amazing birthday related thing happened. A BIG otter present appeared in the living room! Although me and Teddy won’t find out what’s in it until my birthday, we already just know it WILL be our favourite household object.

the present

Otter Keeper said that having the present as my number 1 favourite object wasn’t really the idea of the game, but although Otter Keeper thinks he knows everything about games and competitions – he doesn’t. It’s a bit hard to be mean to him at the moment though because he’s doing important Otter birthday things.

I gave my present a very high score (11.3 – which is the highest score possible for anything ever). Me and Teddy have also been been trying very hard to work out what’s inside. Teddy says it’s an elephant on account of it being so big (but Teddy’s just saying that because it’s the only big thing he knows about). To be fair to him he is very excited at the moment – I’ve had to put him under the sofa pillow to calm down.

Sadly It’s now the end of household object marking week, and this makes me a little upset until I remember that it’s now only 1.5 DAYS UNTIL MY OTTER BIRTHDAY! Apparently there will be a special Otter story on my birthday (on Sunday) so preferably get a little party hat, sit at your computer, and wait for it to arrive. Yay. I can’t wait, and we all get to find out what the number 1 household object actually IS too!!

Top 5 household object No.2 – The Toaster

November 11th, 2010

No.2 The Toaster (9.5 out of 10)

I Love the toaster, it got 9.5 out of 10, and for a very good reason. One evening not so long ago, Otter Keeper said I was allowed to cook him dinner using the toaster! This was brilliant fun but the most important thing of all was he said it was the “best toast he had ever had!” It was at this point that I realised I had a real talent for cooking toast.

the toaster

Nowadays whenever it’s time to have toast I get to be in charge of the toaster and press the button at exactly the right time (Teddy helps too as he’s the sous chef). We’ve got really good at making toast and it’s great to be really good at something. Me and Teddy take our position very seriously and are very careful to not let standards slip.

Otter Keeper says we are so good at making toast that we should open a special restaurant where we just serve toast (and I’m 98.3% sure he’s serious!). He says “people will come for miles around to have our toast”. This is a great thought but I think Otter Keeper may be getting a bit too excited and I don’t want him to be disappointed. A mile is a very long way after all. We once walked a whole mile and I got very tired.

Anyway, tomorrow will be my number one favourite household object of the week. This is really exciting, almost as exciting as the fact that it’s my Otter birthday in 2 and a half days now! …I must go …. Me and Teddy need to go and be….. really REALLY excited!
