otter in the supermarket

“Unexpected Otter in the bagging area”

Yesterday was super exciting! I thought it was just going to be a normal evening but then Otter Keeper announced we were going “late night shopping”. After a brief question and answer session with Otter Keeper, me and Teddy worked out that late night shopping was just like normal shopping (which I love) …..but closer to bedtime.

The Supermarket is a really great place, that’s why it’s called the “Super” market. There are lots of wonderful exciting things to buy and some of them are at just the right height for an otter to reach. I had a great time walking round the supermarket but apparently I was causing too much mischief (shelf climbing is so much fun!) so I got strapped into the special otter seat on the big basket with wheels. It was a bit like my booster seat in the car all over again. However I was able to use my vantage point to select special items I may not have seen otherwise, so this was handy really.

In a supermarket, when you want to go home you have to put all the food in bags at a special machine. This was the best bit of all because Otter Keeper let me help (for a while). A lady lives somewhere inside the machine and talks to you, I know this because she talked to me and said I was an “unexpected Item in the bagging area” The lady is a bit silly, I explained to her that I was Otter.. but she just kept saying the same thing, I think this is because we are not quite friends yet and she wasn’t expecting visitors. This won’t be a problem next time because I will ask Otter Keeper to tell her that we are coming in advance. It’s only polite after all.

I very much enjoyed my shopping trip and the best thing is that Otter Keeper got me a special thing called a “customer feedback form?” this is basically a special letter (just for otter’s I think) that you use to write to the supermarket people to tell them what a good time you had in their supermarket and how much you really REALLY love it. i’m filling this in tonight, and I can’t wait! I am also giving Teddy a special lesson in supermarkets – he needs to be brought up to speed on how great they actually are, and I feel it’s also important for him to know where food actually comes from in the real world.
unfortunately he couldn’t come on the trip as he had to stay behind to guard a picture I’ve drawn with my new crayons (it’s a really good one and I thought Kate might try and steal it)

Sticking to the things you love

Sticking to the things you love

It all started yesterday morning
It was a good day to begin with. Me and Teddy had a successful sofa exploring expedition and had found an old piece of string and a very nice biro lid to present to Otter Keeper when he got home from work. We were exhausted and had just settled down to watch some daytime TV when I realised my crayon was nowhere to be seen. Me and Teddy searched all day (he didn’t put much effort in) but we couldn’t find it.

When Otter Keeper got home he found my crayon but I was still sad because me and Teddy had really wanted to do some colouring in that day. Otter Keeper explained how you must look after things that are important to you and if you have something REALLY important (like a pound, or a favourite crayon) you should stick with it for life.

The next day Otter Keeper was at work again and me and Teddy began discussing what he had told us. We were both very worried about loosing more things that were important to us … so Teddy hit on a brilliant idea. We decided to take Otter Keeper’s advice and stick together with the things that were important to us in life … and luckily last week we discovered where Otter Keeper kept the special glue (I’m not allowed to play with this but this was important)

It was hard deciding which were my most important things. I stuck myself to my ball and my crayon – but then Teddy pointed out that he was very important, so I stuck him to me too. After a while of thinking I suddenly realised what the most important thing in the world that I didn’t ever want to loose was …OTTER KEEPER. As soon as he arrived home and got through the door I ran up and stuck myself to him I didn’t even say hello…the fear of loosing him was too great at this point.

However today has ended a bit sad. Keeper is very cross and I am very confused. I did exactly what he had taught me… but apparently he didn’t mean it like that. I dont see what the problem is .. being stuck to Otter Keeper is great fun, and I always know where he is which is handy. Sadly it turns out sticking yourself to Otter Keepers is not allowed and he is trying to detach me, I’ve explained to him I might loose him if he does this but he doesn’t seem too worried.

Well me and Teddy are sticking together – no matter what happens! (hide and seek may not be as much fun – but he was always rubbish at that anyway).
